I Took A Call with a Top PR Firm: Here's What I Learned

I recently had the chance to take a call with a top PR firm, and it was eye-opening. From media strategies to brand positioning, I gained some valuable insights on how PR firms operate and the ways they can elevate a brand’s visibility. Here’s are my top 3 takeaways from the conversation:
1. Build a Press Kit: One of the most valuable tips I learned was the importance of having a well-organized digital press kit. A press kit is essentially a curated folder of assets that tells your brand’s story and provides everything a journalist or publisher needs to feature you. It should include things like your bio, headshots, testimonials, FAQs, and even videos. This makes it easier for media outlets to share your message with accuracy and consistency. By creating a simple, shareable link to your press kit, you make it effortless for potential partners and press to access what they need quickly. I will definitely be updating mine!
2. Lean into LinkedIn: LinkedIn was highlighted as an essential platform for my target audience, particularly when it comes to networking with industry leaders and decision-makers. It's a space where professionals are looking for business opportunities, making it ideal for building relationships with brands, collaborators, and potential clients. I was advised to use LinkedIn more strategically by sharing thought leadership content, engaging in relevant industry discussions, and showcasing key wins. This not only helps grow your professional credibility but also opens the door for PR opportunities through visibility.
3. Podcast Resource: The PR firm suggested using platforms like Podchaser to search for relevant podcasts within your niche. This tool allows you to find shows that align with your brand and can serve as a resource to connect with hosts looking for guest speakers. Appearing on podcasts is a fantastic way to share your expertise, build authority, and expand your audience. Podchaser’s search functionality makes it easy to filter by category, reach, and relevance, helping you target the right shows.
